We each have our own unique set of values, some of which we feel are more important than others.

Getting to the heart of your core values – those that are most fundamental and important to you – helps you to make the right decisions for you in your life.

  • Identifying your core values is central to IMPACT Goals. You spend a large part of the goalsetting courses getting to grips with them, because they are so fundamental.

Robin Sharma said “Success on the outside means nothing without success on the inside” in his book The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari.

Understanding your values can be like lifting the veil: you can clearly see what inspires you. So how do we get this clarity?

One way is to ask yourself two simple questions:

  • “What’s important to me?”
  • “Why is that important to me?”

The first question gives a high-level understanding of your values.

The second allows you to get to the root.

Ask “why” several times and you will find that you soon can go no further: you have arrived at a core value.
