I would like you to consider your well-being as well as being well-off when setting IMPACT Goals.
- We discuss ways to improve well-being as well as being well-off at out IMPACT Goal setting workshop.

Set IMPACT Goals to enhance your well being
One of the most frequent goal that people set is to make money, to be well-off.
This might be because money is an easily measurable target.
As discussed in a previous blog, money has value, but is not a value.
This means that setting a goal to be wealthy is not always the best goal to set.
This is captured beautifully in a story about when the Dalai Lama was asked what surprises him most about people.
He is said to have replied:
“Man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. Then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present: the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
If this resonates with you then you should consider getting more balance in your life by prioritising your well-being over being well-off.
Balance
There are some simple ways to achieve more balance, so that you can take consistent care of your mind, body and soul.
They are not all easy: they take discipline and a little time.
The benefits are worth it, both in the short and long term.
A good start is to set a long-term IMPACT Goal based around your well-being and then plan Gateways to get there.
Energizing
Being at your best and striving towards your IMPACT Goals takes energy.
Energising is especially important in situations where you feel a high degree of stress.
You also need time to recover.
Just as an elite athlete needs to keep their body in tip-top shape, so do you if you are going to achieve – and enjoy – your IMPACT Goals.
Being active, eating well and sleeping deeply help you achieve this.
Sleeping is now recognised as so important that there are an increasing number of books about it, for example this one by businesswoman Arianna Huffington:
These three basics – exercise, diet and sleep – can easily be forgotten in our frantic world.
So, take time to focus on them every day.
That way, you’ll be focusing on your well-being, as well as being well-off.
Come to the next IMPACT Goal course if you would like to work out how to improve your well-being as well as being well-off.
